Here are some guidelines for engaging in counseling that should help you on your journey. They are meant to increase the return on your time, money, and emotional investment. If you have more questions feel free to contact us.
What should I expect during the first session?
Our first session begins with some simple questions about what brought you to therapy. We will discuss your current life circumstances, and, if applicable, how your past experiences inform your present situation. Your goals and expectations of our sessions will also be determined.
My hope, whatever you are looking for in therapy, is that our work together will allow you to start feeling better and get more out of life.
Will I have to change?
Most likely you will have to change something. Your perspective on something, a behavior, a schedule change, sleep/eating habits, etc. The way you are operating right now is probably not the best, hence, the reason for wanting to seek out therapy.
How long does the therapy process take?
The amount of time it will take depends on where you are starting from and where you want to go. I often tell my clients that therapy can be a lot like cleaning out a closet – when you first begin the process, your space gets messier before it gets better. Also, please note that it is not necessary to begin this process with a full tank of energy.
How much does therapy cost?
We are working hard with all of the major insurance companies so that we may provide a great service to everyone, regardless of their insurance company. Each of our therapists are paneled with different insurance companies. Please check out our About Us page to verify which counselor has your particular insurance coverage.
Insurance companies that some of our therapists are contracted with include: Aetna, Anthem, Cigna, United Health Care, Medical Mutual, and Tricare.
* Receipts for insurance reimbursement will be provided on request. Many of our clients receive a percentage back from their insurance company through their out-of-network benefits.
Initial session: $75 for individuals; $90 for couples; $90 for families.
Follow-up sessions: $60 for individuals; $80 for couples; $80 for families.
How many sessions will I need?
This is a popular question which no one can answer. Time spent in counseling depends solely on the individual. An approximation of the number of sessions needed will be indicated within the first few sessions. We will discuss this together.
Does Teton Counseling provide Christian counseling?
Christian counseling is a separate certification/training which one has to earn. All of our therapists have been trained in a secular educational environment, however, we are trained to recognize religion as a major value system and treat people accordingly.
